North Carolina Butterflier Catherine Maxey Signs with TCU

Catherine Maxey, a senior at Providence High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, has committed to swim for the TCU Horned Frogs in 2015-16. Maxey is a national-level butterflier from SwimMAC Carolina with a Winter Juniors cut in the 200y fly. Competing for Providence High School at the 2014 NCHSAA 4A State Championships, Maxey placed tenth in the 100 fly (57.32) and 16th in the 500 free (5:12.77).

Maxey’s top SCY times over the last two seasons have been:

100y fly: 56.22
200y fly: 2:02.93
200y free: 1:51.66
500y free: 4:59.20
1000y free: 10:28.18
200y IM: 2:08.83

The Horned Frogs will welcome the additional points Maxey should bring to the table. At the 2014 Big 12 Conference Championships, her 200 fly would have made the A-final, whereas her 200 free and 100 fly would have scored somewhere in the B/C-final vicinity. Maxey will have an excellent group to train with; TCU fielded strong entrants in all those races last year.
