NCAA Releases 2011-2012 Division I Time Standards

The NCAA has released the Division I NCAA Swimming and Zone Diving qualifying standards.

For Division I, all swimmers who achieve NCAA “A” standards automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships. Then, swimmers are ticked off one event at a time until the maximum number of swimmers entered is achieved. Last year, on the women’s side, this cut off at about the top 30 swimmers per event. For the men, it was about 23. This is the “invite time”.

Then, swimmers who have already qualified for the meet (by individual invite or as a part of a relay) are eligible for all events in which they have NCAA “B” standards, regardless of whether or not they met the invite time.

Remember that beginning this year, only yards and short course meters times will be accepted for qualification.

Check back to the site soon, as we will post a comparison between these times and those from 2010-2011.
