NCAA Champion USC Finishes Atop CWPA Women’s WP Varsity Polls

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — 2021 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women’s Water Polo Champion the University of Southern California completes the year as the top-ranked team as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2021 Week 15/May 19/Final Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Poll.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the national polls were compiled and released on Wednesdays during the season.

2021 WOMEN’S VARSITY NATIONAL TOP 25 (WEEK 15/MAY 19/FINAL)

The University of Southern California concludes the 2021 season as a unanimous No. 1 pick in the Week 15/May 19/Final Women’s Varsity Top 25 Poll.

USC (100 points), which defeated Marist College (24-5 W), Arizona State University (10-4 W) and host the University of California-Los Angeles (18-9 W) over the weekend to capture the NCAA Championship, concludes the year as the top team in the nation.  UCLA (95 points) moves up to No. 2 this week on the strength of its NCAA Championship title game runner-up finish and a 9-7 semifinal defeat of previously No. 2 Stanford University (92 points).

Stanford falls back to No. 3 with Arizona State (86 points), the University of Hawaii (84 points) and the University of California (80 points) remaining at No. 4-to-6 heading into the off-season.

The University of California-Irvine (74 points) inches up to tie the University of Michigan (74 points) at No. 7, while the University of California-San Diego (68 points), Fresno State University (66 points), the University of California-Davis (58 points) hold down the No. 9-to-11 spots.

San Diego State University (55 points) and Long Beach State University (52 points) break out of a tie to stand at No. 12 and 13, respectively, while the duo of University of the Pacific (49 points) and Indiana University (46 points) follow suite to shatter a deadlock at No. 14 to rate at No. 14 and 15.

San Jose State University (40 points), California Baptist University (35 points), Loyola Marymount University (33 points) and Bucknell University (23 points) remain at No. 16-to-19 with Marist College (22 points) and Azusa Pacific University (22 points) tied at No. 20.

Santa Clara University (16 points), Salem University (10 points), La Salle University (7 points) and Saint Francis University (3 points) complete the Top 25.
