Missouri Hires Two-Time Olympian Mohab Ishak As Assistant Diving Coach

The University of Missouri has hired Mohab Ishak as an assistant diving coach, head coach Andrew Grevers announced on Wednesday.

Ishak fills the vacant position left by Brandon Loschiavo, who spent last season with the team before being named the diving coach at the University of Michigan in May.

Ishak comes to Columbia from Keiser University, where he spent last season as the assistant diving coach.

During his time with the Seahawks, Ishak helped guide the men’s team to their sixth NAIA National Championship and the women’s team to their fourth straight title.

He helped coach NAIA Diver of the Year Juan Gonzalez to national titles in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, scoring 305.20 and 341.30 points. Gonzalez also received SUN Diver of the Year honors as he swept the 1-meter and 3-meter events there with even better scores of 335.85 and 375.85.

Ishak also played a key role in coaching AC Taylor, who was runner-up to Gonzalez in both diving events at the SUN Championships, where he scored 190.70 in the 1-meter and 177.70 in the 3-meter. Taylor went on to take fourth in both events at Nationals with scores of 182.50 in the 1-meter and 173.65 in the 3-meter.

A two-time Olympian, Ishak competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In Rio, he placed 28th in the platform with 305.50 points. At the Tokyo Games, Ishak finished 11th in the 3-meter springboard with a score of 393.15, Egypt’s best Olympic diving finish since 1948, and took 23rd in the platform with 318.55 points.

He also competed in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China, where he walked away with a silver medal in the mixed team competition.

Ishak completed his Bachelor’s degree in Egyptology from the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels Management at Cairo’s Helwan University in 2019.

He joins a staff that includes associate head coach Alec Hayden, head diving coach Kyle Bogner, and assistant swim coaches Andrew Sansoucie, Madeline Banic, and Kate McCarville.

The Mizzou women placed 10th out of 13 teams at the 2025 SEC Championships, while the men were 10th out of 11 teams. Eight women advanced to the NCAA Championships, but no athletes scored. On the men’s side, 11 athletes advanced to NCAAs where the team took 36th, with junior Collier Dyer and sophomore Tommaso Zannella combining for 10 points on the diving boards.
