Milwaukee Hires Alexi Kuska of Dartmouth as New Assistant

The Wisconsin-Milwaukee swimming & diving program has hired Alexi Kuska as the program’s new assistant coach.

“We here at Milwaukee are excited to have Alexi joining our athletic department,” the program’s head coach Kyle Clements said. “I first want to thank our search and screening committee. They put in a lot of time and effort to make sure we found the perfect fit for our assistant coach position. We received over 50 applications, and Alexi’s application and resume really stood out. Not only did we like her swimming/coaching background, but her work with prestigious academic institutions put her above the others.  Once we started phone interviews, and the committee and I spoke with her directly we knew we had someone special. Her personality and enthusiasm for her work spoke to the entire committee.  We here know that we got a great coach and that with all of her attributes that she will help move this program forward.”

Kuska, who is a 2012 graduate of the University of Richmond, already has a few big NCAA coaching stops on her resume. She spent her first year after college as part of the coaching staff at the University of Chicago that was named the Women’s Coaching Staff of the Year and Co-Men’s Coaching Staff of the Year in the Division III UAA conference.

She then spent a season as a volunteer assistant for the Ohio State men’s program and the Dartmouth co-ed program, building a resume of experience with both men’s and women’s programs (of which Milwaukee has both). While she was a volunteer assistant at Ohio State, the program of those three with the biggest name recognition, she was a part of the team’s official travel staff.

Kuska has also worked at the SMU and Richmond summer swim camps.

Last year was Milwaukee’s first season after the graduation of their great All-American breaststroker Emily McClellan, but they still mustered second-place finishes in both the men’s and women’s pools at the Horizon League Championships.
