Missouri State freshman Artur Osvath had two of the most impressive performances for the Bears in their dual victories over conference foes Evansville and Southern Illinois on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The Budapest, Hungary, native earned two first-place finishes and a runner-up showing in Missouri State’s matchup with the Purple Aces. The Bears opened the meet with a victory in the 400 medley relay, while Osvath won his first individual collegiate race in the 200 freestyle (1:43.12). The freshman placed second in the 100 breaststroke (56.55), but finished behind only Bears senior Uvis Kalnins, who set a pool record in the event.

Osvath continued his success Saturday by winning the 200 individual medley and 200 breaststroke. He placed first in the 200 IM in a time of 1:53.24 and followed that with a 2:03.44 finish in the 200 breast, which is currently the fastest time among MAC swimmers. He also was a member of the Bears’ second victory in the 400 medley relay in back-to-back days with an improved time of 3:22.92.

The Salukis were within 11 points of the Missouri State Bears on Saturday largely due to strong performances by senior Till Pallmann. After swimming in three winning relays the week prior at Evansville, Pallmann earned wins on his own this week, taking the 200- and 500-yard freestyle titles. Pallmann swam as the anchor in the 400-yard medley relay, finishing with the fastest split of the race at 44.74, but resulting in a second place finish for the Salukis. He followed that race with the first win of the day for the Salukis, finishing the 200-yard freestyle in 1:39.83. Pallmann also won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:34.10, just off the Hammons Student Center pool record at 4:31.18.
