Louisville’s Blondell, UCONN’s Pedersen win final AAC weekly awards of 2013-2014 season

Carlyle Blondell of Louisville and Christine Pedersen were named AAC Swimmers of the Week in the final set of weekly awards to be given out this season.

Blondell won three times in Louisville’s loss to Indiana, breaking major barriers in all three races. He went 19.93 to win the 50 free and dip under the 20-second mark, snuck under 44 in the 100 free, going 43.74 for the win and then bettered that by splitting 42.8 to crack 43 on the winning 400 free relay that went well below the 3-minute mark.

Pedersen went 4-for-4 in individual wins during UCONN’s back-to-back-day dual meets with Dartmouth and Colgate. Pedersen, only a freshman, won the 100 and 200 backs on both days, putting up top weekend times of 57.67 and 2:05.49.
