TOWSON, Md. – On Wednesday, the Landmark Conference announced that the Swimming & Diving Championships will not begin this weekend so that the league can safely and appropriately restructure the event in accordance with COVID-19 protocols.

The 2021 Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships were scheduled to begin this Saturday, Feb. 13 with the Catholic University men’s and women’s swimming teams hosting Drew and Juniata. First day competition was to include the men’s and women’s 200-yard freestyle relay, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, and the 400-yard medley relay.

However, questions regarding the amount of time and spatial requirements necessary to safely conduct the meet led the league and its four competing teams to rethink the best way to accomplish conducting a conference championship.

As a result, the league has postponed the swimming championship until at least Saturday, Feb. 20 to allow for discussion and planning on the best way to hold this year’s championship meet. All four competing schools follow protocols in accordance with institutional, Landmark Conference, and NCAA guidelines to prioritize the health and safety of student-athletes and athletics staff.

More information on the 2021 Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships will be posted when available.
