Kharun, Milak Set For Battle In 100 Fly On Night 2 Of Mare Nostrum Tour – Canet

2026 Mare Nostrum Tour — Canet

Like the stop in Monaco, the men’s 100 fly looks to be a showdown tonight at the Mare Nostrum tour. Ilya Kharun did not swim the event in Monaco but posted the top time of prelims with a 51.95. Hungary’s Kristof Milak won the event in a 50.66 in Monaco and swam a 52.11 in prelims this morning.

The men’s 200 free also looks to be a tight race as Gabe Jett (USA) swam to 1:48.92 this morning, just ahead of fellow American Patrick Sammon who swam to 1:49.01. The two will look for another 1-2 finish as Jett won in 1:46.81 and Sammon was 2nd in 1:47.16 in Monaco.

Quintin McCarty of the USA and Andrej Barna of Serbia battled it out in the skins of the 50 free back in Monaco as McCarty won in 21.43 and Barna touched in 21.79. The two led the way in the 50 free this morning as McCarty swam 21.87 and Barna 21.98.

Kirill Prigoda of Russia swam to 2:11.68 in the 200 breast, the top time by over two seconds. He was 2nd over the weekend in Monaco with 2:09.51 behind Caspar Corbeau, who is not racing here in Canet.

World Junior Record holder in the 100 back, Miron Lifintsev of Russia, swam the top time of prelims with 54.59. His World Junior Record is 52.08 from 2024 at the Russia Cup.

Other top qualifiers include Michael Houlie of South Africa, who touched first in the 50 breast this morning with 26.94. Jan Cejka led the way in the 200 IM in 2:02.79.

Canada’s Taylor Ruck swam to two top times in prelims on the women’s side, touching in 57.95 in the 100 fly and 1:00.40 in the 100 back. Ruck did not swim at the opening leg in Monaco.

After swimming a personal best 29.64 in the 50 breast in Monaco to become the #2 American all-time, McKenzie Siroky swam the fastest time of prelims in 30.77.

Marrit Steenbergen blasted a 51.86 100 free just last night to become the #2 performer all-time and swam the 2nd fastest time of the morning in the 50 free with a 24.87. Milou Van Wijk was slightly faster in 24.84.

New Zealand’s Erika Fairweather is in search of another win in the 400 free as she won in a 4:01.80 in Monaco. She swam the top time of prelims with a 4:10.32.

World Record holder in the 200 breast, Evgeniia Chikunova of Russia, posted the top time of prelims, touching in 2:25.32. She won in Monaco in 2:22.92 and swam 2:24.98 in prelims.

After not swimming the event in Monaco, Canadian Mary-Sophie Harvey swam to a 4:42.57 for the top time in the 400 IM. Hong Kong’s Siobhan Haughey 1:58.61, half a second faster than her prelims time of 1:59.10 from Monaco. She went on to win the event in a Mare Nostrum record of 1:54.27.
