Potomac Valley Swimming, one of the best swimming regions in the Eastern United States, has named Katie Ledecky’s coach Yuri Suguiyama as their Age Group Coach of the Year.

Suguiyama has become renowned around the country for his work with 15-year old Olympian Katie Ledecky, who won the 800 free at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials to earn a trip to London. In the past year, she has also broken the National Age Group Record in the 400 meter free, as well as four National Age Group Records in yards swimming.

She is not his only impressive swimmer, however. His group has broken 19 Potomac Valley Records, rank nationally at the top of 12 different events, and are on the top 100 lists all-time for 19 different events.

Suguiyama is the head coach of the Georgetown wing of the CUBU club that runs from Maryland to Virginia and around the DC area.

Doping allows her to train harder and longer. Obviously she doped.

It’s pretty obvious Ledecky is doped up to her eyeballs. Let’s face it, she’s a dope cheat. No one can achieve such an unbelievable and impossible result without doping. Have you seen her? She has linebacker shoulders and looks like she’s 35. And she came out of nowhere. She’s also losing her hair going bald, an obvious example of extreme steroid use. Any time in history that someone has looked like Superwoman it’s turned out they were doping. Put her in a line-up with the East Germans from the 80’s and it’s impossible to tell them apart.

@BradJennings – How sad that you feel it necessary to cruelly and unjustly attack a 15 year old girl.

Also, Katie has been a local swimming sensation for a few years. She’s set several Potomac Valley and National Age Group Records. Her coach wanted her to swim in less nationally known meets so she could experience success on a smaller level before going to bigger meets. Just because you haven’t heard of someone doesn’t mean they can’t be great.

Katie Ledecky is NOT doping and you will learn of this soon after she has been tested. I coach for the team that she swims on and she is the hardest worker I have EVER seen in the 26 years I’ve been involved in the sport.

Dropping that much time in a distance event is not hard to do. Also, the big meets she swam in this past year, Olympic Trials being one of them, she was not fully rested. Dropping major time in an event that long is an easy thing to do of an athlete hits their taper right on and that’s EXACTLY what Katie has done. Being a distance swimmer, I am fully aware that a… Read more »

Lochte and Philps went to the Trials without tapering, because they were so sure they would make the team. What made Ledecky and her coach so confident that she could go to the Trials without fully rested and still make the team?

Is Katie Ledecky doping? How is it possible that a 15 year-old is able to shave over 21 seconds off her personal best in the past year, and 5 seconds from her personal best which she set just a MONTH ago at the US Olympic Trials?

Surely she must be doping to achieve these kind of results.

In comparison, Ye Shiwen was able to shave off 5 seconds from her personal best that she set TWO years ago.

Ye Shiwen was also the 200 meter IM world champion from 2011 and placed 2nd in the 400 meter IM at the 2010 World Championships.

No one had heard of Ledecky until the US Olympic Trials a month ago as she… Read more »
