Katie Drabot Wins 200 IM on Night 4 of Brown Deer Sectionals

Katie Drabot added the 200 IM to her win tally, posting a 2:15.79 to win that event by almost five seconds over Reilly Lanigan (2:20.34) of NASA. Drabot also swam the fly leg of Ozaukee Aquatics’ victorious 400 medley relay, splitting a 1:00.57. The big split from that race was a 59.12 fly leg from Schroeder’s Hannah Saiz— that relay placed 2nd overall.

Three Wisconsin Badgers picked up individual wins tonight as well. Brett Pinfold, who’s won multiple events thus far in the meet, cranked out a lifetime best 2:03.28 to take the men’s 200 IM. Meanwhile, in the women’s 50 free, Marissa Berg shot past the 26-second mark for the first time in her career, winning the event in 25.96. Finally, Sean Maloney dropped a 15:52.00, his first time under 16:00, to win the men’s 1500.

Bowen Becker, a rising Minnesota sophomore, took the men’s 50 free in 23.18, nearly cracking the 23-second mark. In the women’s 1500, IU commit Cassy Jernberg swam a 16:51.50 for the win after taking the 800 free on the first night of competition.

To close out the meet, the Academy Bullets won the men’s 400 medley relay in 3:57.18, finished just ahead of West Swim Club (3:57.78) and St. Charles Swim Team (3:57.87).
