Junior Nationals Qualifier Joey Snodderly Verbally Commits to Indiana

After one of the best recruiting seasons in Ray Looze’s tenure at Indiana, the Hoosiers have kicked off their 2014 fall recruiting schedule with a verbal commitment from Joey Snodderly.

Snodderly trains at the Rockville-Montgomery Swim Club, specifically in the National Training Group led by Scott Vekeman at the Kennedy Shriver Aquatic Center in North Bethesda, Maryland.

The high school senior also swims scholastically at Georgetown Prep, alongside well-known names like fellow class of 2015 swimmer Carsten Vissering.

As a junior, Snodderly started making a lot of improvements in the shorter freestyles, including improving his 200 freestyle by a full second to 1:44.10.

Snodderly’s best events, however, are still the distance freestyles, where he has yards bests of 4:32.02 in the 500 and 15:44.23 in the 1650 – the latter of which qualified him for Summer Junior Nationals. His best times there, however, were done as just a sophomore, so if he can catch back up on his progression as a senior, this becomes a real value signing for Indiana.

Snodderly was 54th in the 1500 free and 60th in the 800 free at this summer’s Junior National Championships.
