Inaugural Minnesota Invite Set To Begin

The Golden Gophers set a number of in-season and lifetime bests on the first day of the inaugural Minnesota Invite. The meet continues through Saturday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center, with prelims starting at 9 a.m. and finals at 5 p.m.

WOMEN’S
Danielle Nack set a new career in-season best with a 23.02 in the 50 freestyle, beating teammates Zoe Avestruz (23.27) and Allison Schumacher (23.89).

Tevyn Waddell won the 200 individual medley in 2:04.63. She finished ahead of Madison Preiss (2:05.63 unattached) and Rina Krupsky (2:06.71).

Chantal Nack finished second in the 500 free in a personal-record 4:50.89.

Danielle Nack, Zoe Avestruz, Allison Schumacher and Abigail Raatz won the 200 free relay in 1:33.64. Waddell, Bullinger, Danielle Nack and Raatz captured the 400 medley relay win in 3:46.04.

MEN’S
Nick Plachinski came out ahead of teammate Logan Redondo in a close 500 free race. Plachinski’s 4:29.66 edged out Logan Redondo’s 4:29.77. Both times were career in-season bests.

Bowe Becker won the 50 free in 20.07. Hunter Doerr was second in an in-season best 20.52.

Brian Poon turned in a career in-season best of 1:49.87 to finish second in the 200 individual medley. John Bushman was next in 1:50.39, also an in-season best.

Becker, Paul Fair, Doerr and Daryl Turner won the 200 free relay in 1:20.67. Turner, Eric Sande, Fair and Becker won the 400 medley relay in 3:17.69.
