The 2021 Tennessee Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association State High School Swimming and Diving Championships took place this weekend but due to the pandemic, the events were held at four different locations and spread out over Saturday and Sunday, April 24 and 25 to respect COVID-19 protocols. The entire diving competition was held at The Ensworth School on Saturday, April 17.

Harpeth Hall senior Gretchen Walsh, in her final appearance as a high school swimmer, came within .02 of her national independent school record in the 50 free, winning the event with 21.61. It was her ninth sub-22 second performance and her fourth-fastest ever. Walsh also produced the fastest 100 free time in the combined results, going 47.55. She set the state record a year ago with 46.98. Walsh, who plans to join her sister Alex Walsh on the UVA roster next fall, also contributed to Harpeth Hall’s winning 4×50 free (21.65 leadoff for her 10th sub-22) and 4×100 free (47.14 anchor) relays.

Baylor School senior and Auburn commit Ellie Waldrep won both her individual events and one relay, leading the Red Raiders to their third consecutive state championship. Waldrep went 51.75 to tie her lifetime best in the 100 back and win the event by 2.6 seconds. She also won the 200 IM (1:58.73) and contributed to the winning 200 medley relay and runner-up 200 free relay (23.03 leadoff).

Logan Watson-Brown, another Baylor School senior, won the 200 free (1:49.28) and took second behind Walsh in the 100 free (49.89). Two more teammates won state titles: sophomore Lillie Boggs, claimed victory in the 500 free (4:56.88) while senior Bre Belcher was first to the wall in the 100 breast (1:02.44).

Arlington High School junior Raine Boles went 55.83 to win the 100 fly title.
