Gretchen Walsh broke her own World Cup Series record in the 100 butterfly with a 53.10. That broke her own record of a 53.69 that she swam at the first stop back in Carmel two weeks ago.

Walsh was faster tonight compared to Carmel on all three of the first 25s. She faded a bit coming home but was still way under record pace. She was only 0.39 seconds off her own World Record of a 52.71 that she swam last December at the 2024 World Championships.

With her swim tonight, she now holds the top 7 SCM 100 butterfly performances all-time. No one else has been under 54 seconds as Canada’s Maggie MacNeil sits at #2 all-time with a 54.05.

Since Gretchen Walsh set the bar so high in the W 100 FL, it’s hard to maximize the AQUA points for future World Aquatics Swimming World Cups.
