Walsh was faster tonight compared to Carmel on all three of the first 25s. She faded a bit coming home but was still way under record pace. She was only 0.39 seconds off her own World Record of a 52.71 that she swam last December at the 2024 World Championships.
With her swim tonight, she now holds the top 7 SCM 100 butterfly performances all-time. No one else has been under 54 seconds as Canada’s Maggie MacNeil sits at #2 all-time with a 54.05.

Walsh’s swim tonight earned her the triple crown in the event (a $10,000 bonus) and she sits at the top of the individual World Cup rankings right now with 177.3 points.

That world record is unbreakable
Since Gretchen Walsh set the bar so high in the W 100 FL, it’s hard to maximize the AQUA points for future World Aquatics Swimming World Cups.
