12 minute interview and 11/16 comments are about 1 word that he misspoke

Classy interview by Todd obviously, but it would be really funny if in one of these interviews he said, “Yeah I knew we were going to win by a mile. Have you seen our roster? What were you guys thinking?”

Please keep disrespecting the University of Virginia women’s swimming program, it only motivates the female athletes even further.

Being specific is kind of his brand.

It was interesting that they had a Chicago Bulls banner there tonight, attached to the rail directly in front of the Virginia section. The banner listed all 6 Bulls title years from the 1990s. I was thinking that was DeSorbo’s idea but that’s just a guess.

Next year is more challenging for comparison purposes. I remember that UCLA won 7 consecutive NCAA basketball titles under Wooden in the late ’60s through early ’70s. Then NC State and David Thompson edged the Bruins in overtime of the semifinal game the following year, before UCLA rebounded with a surprise championship a season later.

OMG!! At 6:45 he says refers to Mrs Heilman as “Thomas and Maximus mom” He has had Matt there for 4 years and forgot his name. Unbelievable!

You think it’s unbelievable that he confused the name “Matt” with “Max” After 4 days of intense competition and beforehand going through the loss of someone dear to the program? Let’s maybe put this into perspective and give him a bit of grace.

Coleman, I don’t disagree with you but he said Maximus

Matthew / Maximus. I’m sure you’ve never had a misstep in front of people with cameras before.

He definitely said it, but in the whole scheme of things, does it really matter? The Heilman family knows how the Virginia coaches felt about Carrie and how supportive they’ve been over the past year or so.

All I think is that his mind is on next week. Also, he has definitely said/been more used to saying Thomas and Maximus more often than Thomas and Matt throughout the year so it’s just a slip of the tongue. I just think that next week is his biggest challenge and his mind was already there. I don’t think anybody thought they were losing the women’s meet.

You’re not helping your case by saying “Max”

You all just don’t get it. I have no case, you all just have no empathy nor emotional intelligence.

Real empathy would be acknowledging that the mistake matters but also understanding why it happened. Both can be true.
