Fly Specialist Kylie Tininenko Commits to Kean University for Fall 2022

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Kylie Tininenko from Billings, Montana has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at Division III Kean University beginning in the 2022-2023 academic year.

Tininenko swims for Billings Aquatic Club (BAC) out of Billings, MT. Her coach, Sean Marshall, spoke of her by saying, “Kylie loves to race and compete and all of BAC is excited to see her continue her success and development onto the collegiate level.”

This spring, she competed at the Montana Short Course West State Championships. There she was champion in the 50 butterfly (27.91) and finished top eight in the 100 (1:01.99) and 200 butterflys (2:20.21), and 50 (26.48), 100 (57.95) and 200 (2:07.46) freestyles.

This summer, Tininenko competed at the Montana Summer State Championships and was state champion in the 200 butterfly for the 17-21 age group with a time of 2:32.98. That time also is a sectional cut.

Her best short course times are:

  • 50 Free: 25.93
  • 100 Free: 56.83
  • 100 Fly: 1:01.99
  • 200 Fly: 2:14.37

Kean University is a public university located in Union, New Jersey. The school is a member of the Metropolitan Swimming Conference.

At the 2020 Metropolitan Championships, the Kean women’s team finished sixth out of 15 teams. The team was led by Kristina Sullivan and Lauren Beyer, who scored 53 and 44 points respectively. Both will graduate at the end of the 2021-2022 school year unless they use their fifth year due to COVID-19.

Based on her best times, Tinineko has the potential to make an impact for Kean at the conference level and in the school all-time top five. At the 2020 conference meet, they would have earned her spots in the A-final of the 100 and 200 butterflys and C-final of the 50 and 100 freestyles. Her best times also place her in the school’s top five in history in the 100 freestyle (fifth) and 200 butterfly (second).

Tinineko will arrive on campus next fall as a member of the class of 2026.
