Fluidra Race Video of the Week: Brooks Curry Hits 47.51 100 Free To Climb All-Time U.S. Rankings

American sprinter Brooks Curry had a phenomenal performance racing overseas at the Malmsten Swim Open Stockholm last week, highlighted by his swim in the 100 freestyle.

Racing a competitive international lineup, Curry dominated the field by nearly a full second, clocking 47.51 to improve on his previous personal best of 47.90, set at the 2022 World Championships.

The swim moves Curry up into a tie for seventh all-time among Americans, tying the legendary Michael Phelps.

After the swim, Curry was surprised by the early speed he had, having flipped in 22.27 at the 50, nearly four-tenths faster than his opening 50 in his previous best time.

The other sub-48 swim on his resume came at last year’s U.S. National Championships, where he clocked 47.96 behind a 22.68 opening 50.

Curry also won the 200 free in Stockholm, clocking 1:46.03 for the second-fastest swim of his career, and he was also the runner-up in the 50 free (22.27) after posting a time of 22.04 in the prelims.
