2026 MALMSTEN SWIM OPEN STOCKHOLM

Day two of the Malsten Swim Open saw Brooks Curry win the men’s 200 freestyle event to kick off the session, touching in 1:46.03 to come in a tenth ahead of Lucas Henveaux, who swam 1:46.14.

MEN’S 200 FREE – FINAL

  • Meet Record – 1:45.12, Danas Rapsys (LTU), 2018
  • World Record – 1:42.00, Paul Biedermann (GER), 2009
  • European Record – 1:42.00, Paul Biedermann (GER), 2009
  • Swedish Record – 1:45.91, Robin Hanson, 2025

GOLD – Brooks Curry (USA), 1:46.03
SILVER – Lucas Henveaux (BEL), 1:46.14
BRONZE – Robin Hanson (SWE), 1:46.51

Curry got out to an early lead over the field, splitting 24.18 to turn three tenths ahead of the rest of the field. He was 27.15/27.60/27.10 on the final three 50s, just holding off a late charge from Henveaux.

This was Curry’s 2nd fastest swim ever, and his fastest 200 freestyle since the 2024 Olympic Trials, when he swam 1:45.89 to make the Olympic team.

Last season, Curry’s season best was 1:46.33, which he swam in prelims at the USA Swimming National Championships. He qualified 9th overall, missing the ‘A’ final before swimming 1:47.50 in the ‘B’ final to finish 15th overall.

Curry didn’t make the Worlds team last summer after getting sick and pulling out of the final event of the meet, and he missed earning a Pan Pacs spot for this summer after he finished the year ranked 7th in the 100 freestyle.

He is still entered in the 50 free and 100 free in Stockholm.
