Night two of the 2026 Commonwealth Games saw a few scratches from athletes in semifinals tonight including South Africa’s Ruard van Renen in the men’s 100 fly semifinal.
Van Renen was the highest seeded scratch for night two after he qualified 5th for the 100 fly semifinal in 52.14, less than a second back of Australia’s Matt Temple, who swam 51.30 for the top time.
His swim was a new lifetime best time, and he has the 50 backstroke final tonight where he and South African teammate Pieter Coetze will be trying to finish 1st and 2nd as the top two qualifiers from yesterday’s semifinal.
His scratch moves 17th place finisher Daniel Kish from the Cayman Islands into the semifinal as the 16th seed.
