Brooks Curry had a career showing in Stockholm, going his 2nd fastest time ever in the 200 free (1:46.03) before going his PB in the 100 free (47.51). Curry said he has been doing a lot of 200 work in practice and was looking to be fast in Sweden but didn’t necessarily expect PBs. The 2x Olympian will compete at US Nationals in July but his focus meet on the year will be Short Course Trials in October, looking to go PBs there and qualify for the US team for Short Course World Championships in China.

Way to go, hard work pays off!!
Good interview. Seems like this was a cool meet in a fastastic location. Our American swimmers seemed to have some pretty solid swims.
Interestingly, he was 22.27 with a FOOT TOUCH on his first 50 in the 100 free and in the 50 free with a HAND TOUCH… (He was faster in the 50 free prelims though, 22.04)
If you look at his start in the 50 free final (can be found in another article), seems like something went wrong. It was relatively quick from the “take your marks” the beep and seemed like he got off the blocks slow? Also, when he came up his stroke almost looked like 100/200 (seemed like it took a while to get up to speed), which is maybe indicative of his training as of late.
Those fast starts seems to be fairly common at bigger international meets.

It’s funny because before the start, they actually took much longer than what is common in the US. Like, 15+ more seconds before the whistle blows while the athletes are just standing on the blocks.
I was thinking once they are on the blocks, from “Take your marks” to start. The rest of the starting procedure is SO SLOW (in my opinion). If you felt that it was ‘only’ 15 extra seconds, you were lucky (once again in my opinion).
