Florida’s Vanessa Pearl Garners SEC Freshman of the Week Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Vanessa Pearl was named the SEC Freshman of the Week by the league office on Tuesday. This is her fourth honor in six weeks.

Pearl recorded the fastest time in program history in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:08.04 and won the A Final. Her time is the fifth-fastest time in the NCAA and fastest by a freshman. Her time of 1:55.25 was the third-best mark in program history in the 200 IM and won the A Final. Her 200 IM time is the fifth-best in the NCAA. She won the A Final of the 400 IM with a time of 4:05.07, which is the third-best swim in program history and fourth-fastest mark in the NCAA.

In the prelims of the 100 Breast, Pearl recorded the fourth-fastest swim in UF history with a 1:00.69. She placed fourth in the A Final of the 100 Breast with a time of 1:01.00.

She was the second leg of the 200 Medley Relay that posted the fifth-best time in the NCAA with a 1:37.26, which won. Pearl helped the 400 Medley Relay team win at the Georgia Tech Invitational with the 10th-fastest swim in the NCAA with a 3:34.59.

The Gators return to action on Monday, Dec. 17, for the Auburn Diving Invitational.
