FHSAA 1A State Champion Emily Trieschmann Verbals to Northwestern

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Emily Trieschmann of Saint Andrew’s Aquatics in Florida has verbally committed to Northwestern’s class of 2025. She’s a rising senior at Saint Andrew’s School in Boca Raton.

TOP TIMES (SCY)

  • 50 free – 23.91
  • 100 free – 51.66
  • 200 free – 1:47.84
  • 500 free – 4:48.07
  • 1650 free – 16:35.34
  • 200 IM – 2:02.16
  • 400 IM – 4:21.37

At the 2019 FHSAA 1A State Championships, Trieschmann took the state title in the 200 free with her lifetime best of 1:47.84. She was also second in the 500 free (4:48.57) and was part of Saint Andrew’s free relays which both took second at the meet.

Trieschmann is a strong mid-distance freestyle addition to the Wildcats. The NU women had one of their best seasons in history last season, and Trieschmann would’ve ranked second in the mile, third in the 200 free and fifth in the 500 free on their top times list. NU is graduating their top 200 freestyler in Krystal Lara, and their top miler, Ilektra Lebl, will graduate after next season.

At the 2020 B1G Champs, Trieschmann would’ve scored in 14th place in the mile, and she would’ve just missed the 500 free C-final.

Trieschmann will still have two years of overlap with rising sophomore distance specialist Yulia Groysman and rising sophomore mid-distance specialist Ally Larson. Northwestern has a strong distance swimmer coming this fall in Lola Mull, who has been 4:43/16:12 in the 500/1650 free in high school.

Trieschmann joins #5 Ashley Strouse (49.2/1:45.4/4:41/16:01 freestyler), Kenisha Gupta, and Justine Murdock in NU’s class of 2025.

Man y’all underestimate the love for the school and their teammates that these swimmers have. No one’s going anywhere. Also, congrats Emily!

Seriously – that team is a FAMILY. Proof being the way that they performed this past season and clearly enjoyed being in one another’s presence. Congrats to Emily as well!

Has Kipp announced his move to USC? is this 100% certain?

Here are the facts as we know them:

– Multiple, dependable, but second-hand, sources have told us that Kipp has taken the USC job.
– Kipp has not responded to our request
– The USC athletics department says it’s not true.
– Athletics departments almost always lie about these kind of things until they publish their formal press release.
– Based on comments here, it seems as though the Northwestern swimmers have not been told of any such news.

So, we’re still working on confirming the news. There’s enough of a degree of uncertainty there for us to have not reported it, but seems every other college coach in the country believes that he has accepted the position.

I can tell you for a fact that Jeremy Kipp has not taken the coaching job at USC. USC’s athletic department is not lying about this one. Y’all should check your sources before we go spreading “rumors” that are potentially harmful to student-athletes that already have A LOT going on right now. That’s unfair to them. They shouldn’t have to worry about a SwimSwam comment section during a time like this.

But I’m sure at the same time it’s a little bit flattering. Just shows how people will spread any kind of rumor when a team finally reaches a point where they’re good enough to warrant such things. IMO Kipp isn’t going anywhere for a very long time and neither… Read more »

Even with Kipp going to USC?

These posts are typically a few days/weeks behind from when folks actually announce their commitment. This does bring up an interesting dilemma given Kipp’s departure to USC, but let’s congratulate her on her decision and see where she ends up. Coach Kipp has brought in a couple strong classes with high profile commits, so it’ll be interesting to see if his departure opens their recruitment back up, if they follow Coach to USC, or if another program swoops in they were previously considering.

When was it announced that Kipp was moving to USC? I was under the impression that the spot hasn’t been filled yet and he was not filling it. How can you be so sure that he’s moved when he’s building a very competitive group at NU?
