It would have been far more interesting to find out if a guy like me, who was barely good enough to walk on to a D1 team, could go through their training and “Protocol,” and swim a faster 50 or 100 breast at age 40 than at age 20. I’d imagine something like that would be way more relatable to their target audience than the World record spectacle angle. But obviously, not nearly as headline-grabbing.
I’d even be willing to take $5,000 for a last place finish.
At one point Coleman said Armstrong went 47.5 – that was his seed time, I believe. He was like 48.0.
I get that thr enhanced games are supposed to be some weird mash up between pro wrestling and Banana Ball, except it seems like a really boring product. 3 or 4 swimmers per event with most of them using PEDs and super suits and only a few are swimming vaguely competitive international times?
Maybe Thiel and Trump Jr should invest the same kind of prize money in a legitimate meet and THEN we might see some pretty amazing swimming.
A number of people in last night’s comment section were dumping on Cody Miller and saying he sold out his integrity. You are entitled to your opinions.
In my view, the person who fell a greater distance was MP, history’s greatest swimmer, when he began pimping for online gambling several years ago.
A few people may have later life issues with PEDs, but gambling addiction has harmed and destroyed many families.
I mean he literally did sell his integrity.
Interviews with him were like hostage films.
I (honestly) hope it was worth 500k for him and it makes a difference for him and his family.
