Emily Brown Breaks 1:00 Barrier For 1st Time With 59.44 100 Fly On Night 2 In Columbus

Highlighting night two of competition in Columbus was Emily Brown who swam to a 59.44 in the girls 100 butterfly. That marked a best time for the 19 year old as her previous best was a 1:00.09. Brown competes collegiately for Tennessee and was 12th in the SCY 200 fly at the 2025 NCAA Championships. She did not swim the 100 fly at SECs or NCAAs, instead opting for the 200 IM, 400 IM, and 200 fly.

Finishing behind Brown was Ella Jo Piersma who touched in a 1:00.23, a best time by 0.20 seconds. She finished ahead of Michigan teammate Anna Boemer who touched 3rd in a 1:00.38, also a best time.

Ohio State’s Rachel Bockrath earned the win in the 200 freestyle, touching in a 2:00.61. That marked a best time as her previous best was a 2:00.74 that she swam during a time trial at last month’s US Summer Nationals.

After finishing 2nd in the 50 free last night, Julie Mishler earned the win in the 50 backstroke touching in a 28.90. She was slightly faster in prelims with a 28.78. Mishler finaled in the event at US Summer Nationals, posting a best time 28.13 to finish 11th. She heads to Louisville this fall.

Paige Delma swam to a win in the 400 IM with a 4:54.22, just half a second off her best time. 15 tear old Jayla Kuzak swam to 2nd in a 4:57.95, cracking the 5:00 mark for the first time.

The boys side of the night was highlighted by Michigan’s Colin Geer who won the 100 fly in a 52.67. That was just off his lifetime best of a 52.64 that he swam in prelims at 2025 US Summer Nationals before going on to swim a 52.89 in finals for 13th. Ohio State’s William Fentress touched 2nd in a 53.16, about a second off his best time.

Alex Axon earned the win in the 200 free touching in a 1:49.12, a season best. Axon represents Canada at the international level and has a lifetime best of a 1:47.56 that he swam at 2024 Canadian Trials. His previous season best was a 1:49.91. Ohio State teammate Thomas Frost touched 2nd in a 1:49.95, slightly off his prelims time of a 1:49.66 but better than his 1:51.21 best entering the day.

2025 US Summer Nationals ‘A’ finalist Jack Wilkening swam to a 25.14 in his win. Wilkening has a lifetime best 24.88 that he swam for 6th at US Summer Nationals. It took a 24.44 to make the US Worlds roster.

Michigan’s Ryan Healy swam to a win last night in the 200 breast and earned the win tonight in the 400 IM as he touched in a 4:18.63. That dropped 0.31 off his best time. Frost earned his 2nd runner up finish on the night as he swam to a 4:21.86.
