Matas Cinga from Panevėžys, Lithuania, has signed with Drexel University for 2025-26.
Cinga trains and competes with the club team Panevėžio Žemyna-Sporto Gimnazija and focuses mainly on freestyle and IM events. He represented Lithuania internationally at the World Aquatics Junior Championships in 2023 and at the European Junior Championships in 2022 and 2023.
Last month at the 2025 Lithuanian Youth and Age Group Championships, he won the 19 & Over 100 free (with a PB of 51.03) and was runner-up in the 200 free (1:52.56) and 200 IM (2:11.74), both PBs. He also clocked a lifetime best in the 50 free (23.56) in time trials. A year ago at the Lithuanian Open Swimming Championship, he placed 2nd in the 400 free.
In January, he swam the SCM 800 and SCM 1500 freestyles at the Lithuanian Distance Swimming Competition. He won the latter (16:01.71) and came in 3rd in the former (8:15.04), notching lifetime bests in both events.
Cinga’s converted times would have made him Drexel’s fastest 200/500 freestyler last season. He also would have placed among the Dragons’ top 5 in the 50 free, 100 free, and 1650 free. The men finished 3rd out of 6 teams at the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association Championships. It took 1:37.96/4:27.95/15:48.19 to make ‘A’ finals in the 200/500 free and top-8 in the 1650.

Remember that converted times are not 100% accurate and should be viewed only as an indication of how Cinga’s performances might translate into a 25-yard setting. Whether or not one might quibble with the conversions, it is clear that Cinga has the potential to be an ‘A’ final scorer in at least 2 events next season.
Cinga will join Drexel in the fall with fellow commits Joseph Pollock and Roko Krpina.
