Great work guys

Why have some swimmers like Missy Franklin, Rachel Bootsma or Matt Grevers swum so fast in the heats? Why don’t they keep their energy for the other races?
Fantastic women’s 400 free to come. Unlike the men’s 400 free which was very bad the women’s race is full of great talents. For me the race for the two spots is between Allison Schmitt, Katie Ledecky, Chloe Sutton and Kate Ziegler. People don’t talk too much about Kate Ziegler but if she isn’t too far before the last 50 meters she will be very dangerous.

Beisel can get in there too.

What’s scary for the other girls is I don’t think Missy was wasting too much energy…she is going to be blazing tonight and tomorrow. Natalie coasted, I think she will scare the youngans with a little 59.4 tonight, then a 59.0 tomorrow.

The 400 will Be a a great battle! Schmitt will win, but second gets interesting. Im rooting for both katies (ledecky or ziegler) to take that second spot. I think Schmitt will take a record along with her Olympic berth.

Really looking forward to the men’s 200 M Freestyle semifinals and the women’s 100 M Backstroke semifinals.

Interesting dynamic with the way the 200 Free semifinal heats line up. The normal “first heat pressure” will certainly be amplified by the presence of so many “established names” in the second heat (Berens, Dwyer, Klueh, Lochte, and Phelps). If that first heat is fast, which I think its safe to assume it will be, how many of those established names can make it through with Lochte and Phelps (I’m going to go ahead and assume that part of it). It’s going to be tight for those last few finals spots.

In the 100 Back, Coughlin and Franklin are right next to each other and should be great.

You guys are doing a great job with the coverage. Can’t tell you how excited I am to be able to keep up with everything while at work. Kudos.

I love how after one year, Missy Franklin is commented about as part of the old guard and swimmer’s a mere 1 year younger than her are potential breakout swimmers. Insane based on her results this past year and just turning 17. It’s great to see a lot of the concern for USA Swimming is being put on hold as these 14-16 year olds are making semis and final heats. All that worry, for a whole lot of nothing in my mind…

Franklin made her first senior international team way back in 2009 (Duel in the Pool) so counts as a grizzled veteran at this point.

Couglin did look smooth–still not certain if the young one’s won’t take her out in the 100bk. Soni looked really stiff ???

did no one else notice Katie Hoff in 20th with a 4:13? :/

Looked like she quit halfway through the race….almost looked like she was swimming backwards when everyone started past her.Would that be her aerobic base missing or her head getting in the way…

Apparently she is sick: http://swimsw.am/23w

it was a disgrace the way all the attention and talk was on Kaiie Hoff instead of on the girl who led the entire time and then won the 400 free, heat 10 prelim. Even the camera at the end was on Katie Hoff in her agony of defeat instead of on the winner. It was embarrassing for both of them! Poor journalism!!!!
