Cseh Puts Himself In The Top Ten Winning The 200 Butterfly In Budapest

Laszlo Cseh followed up a win in the 100 butterfly on Friday night with a victory in the 200 butterfly on Saturday evening at the Budapest Open.

Cseh won the race in a time of 1:56.86, which currently ranks ninth in the world. The time is a good in season time for the multiple Olympic medalist, ”

“It went extremely well up to one hundred and seventy-five meters,” said Cseh.

Cseh said that he pulled his shoulder in the final length of the event and could not find the ability to finish the race with the speed he wanted to.

“In other words, there is still room for improvement,” commented Cseh. “However overall I’m satisfied.”

The 1500 freestyle looked like it was going to be a race right to finish between 400 and 800 freestyle winner Gergo Kis and European Short Course champion Gergely Gyurta, but during the race Kis, who has dealt with a recurring back injury, had to pull up and eventually finished sixth. Gyurta went on to win the event in a time of 15:06.57, just outside of both the world’s top ten and his best time of 15:04.22.

After the race Gyurta commented that he was shooting for a best time, but is hopeful that he will be able to swim in the area of 14:55 this summer at the European Championships.

David Horvath, who won the 100 breaststroke on Friday night, tied for the win with Tamas Szabo. Both swimmers finished in a time of 29.02. It was a tremendous race for Szabo who came into the event with a lifetime best of 29.87.

Evelyn Verraszto took the women’s 50 backstroke in a time of 29.57, while Melinda Novoszssth followed up her 800 freestyle victory by winning the 400 freestyle in a time of 4:14.59, two and half seconds faster than her lifetime best.
