College Swimming Weekly Preview: Sept. 23 – Sept. 29, 2019

We’ve had a couple weeks of college swimming & diving meets already, but only in sparse numbers. This weekend is the first flood of the 2019-2020 season, with upwards of 59 meets scheduled that we know of in Division I.

A good half of them are intrasquad matches, with one program dividing into two teams to compete within their own school. Finding results of those meets is usually hit-or-miss – but they can also lead to some fun rumored fast times, or even teams competing in bodysuits for otherworldly swims.

In terms of major teams, here are a few standout meets to watch for:

  • Florida‘s women take a two-meet road sweep through the state, swimming FIU on Thursday and Miami on Friday.
  • The Gator men swim Nova Southeastern and junior college powerhouse Indian River on Friday before both Florida programs take on Florida Atlantic on Saturday.
  • Indiana kicks things off with a Wednesday intrasquad meet.
  • NC State will host its “Wolfpack Games” on Friday. The meet includes mostly fun events and usually some conference and national title ceremonies for NC State swimmers.
  • Tennessee is in action this weekend with a two-day scrape against UNC-W.

Some programs haven’t yet published a schedule, and we’re still in the process of unifying all the college schedules into our weekly master list, so this week’s list is probably not exhaustive.

Below is a list of the D1 meets we’ll be covering at SwimSwam this week. If we missed any, please leave them in the comments and we’ll get them added.
