The University of Richmond women’s swimming and diving team has received verbal commitments from a pair of divers from the state of New York: Sydney Weiskopf of Clifton Park and Maddy Chao from Niskayuna. Weiskopf and Chao are teammates on the club team Flip and Rip, and are coached by Maria Coomarasamy-Falkenstein.
Sydney Weiskopf
A senior at Shenendehowa High School, Weiskopf holds the school record in 1-meter diving. She won the NYSPHSAA Section II Division I Championship title in November 2014, then went on to place 20th at the state meet. At the 2015 AAU Diving National Championships last summer in Riverside, California, Weiskopf placed 23rd in 1-meter diving and 15th in 3-meter.

Madeleine “Maddy” Chao
Chao is a senior at Albany Academy for Girls, where she owns both the school and pool records for 1-meter diving. A fifth-place finish at the NYSPHSAA Section II Division II meet qualified Chao for the 2014 state championships. She also competed at AAU Diving Nationals last summer in Riverside. Chao finished 33rd on the 1-meter and 20th on the 3-meter boards.

Weiskopf and Chao will be joined in the Richmond class of 2002 by verbal commit, swimmer Hannah Gouger.
