In the first final of the night in Greensboro, Westchester Aquatic Club 14-year-old Claire Weinstein had a fierce battle with Long Island Aquatic Club 16-year-old Cavan Gormsen in the women’s 400 free. Gormsen ultimately touched out Weinstein, but Weinstein established a new personal best with the 2nd-place finish.
Weinstein’s time of 4:11.11, chipped 0.79 seconds off her previous best of 4:11.90, which she swam just 3 weeks ago. Here is a split comparison between Weinstein’s race from tonight, and her previous best from July 17th:

There are several differences between Weinstein’s race tonight, and her previous best from 3 weeks ago. Most notably, she took the race out faster tonight by 1.34 seconds on the first 100, which may have been on account of her being next to a sub-4:10 400 freestyler in Gormsen. She was also 0.60 seconds faster on the final 50 tonight. However, her 6th and 7th 50s were significantly slower tonight than 3 weeks ago.
