Claire Curzan, Henry McFadden Named ACC Swimmers of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – In the ninth set of weekly honors for the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming & Diving season, Stanford’s Henry McFadden was named the ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week while Georgia Tech’s Max Fowler earned ACC Men’s Diver of the Week honors. Virginia’s Claire Curzan was named ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week while Duke’s Margo O’Meara was named ACC Women’s Diver of the Week.

ACC MEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Henry McFadden, Stanford, So., Haddonfield, New Jersey

McFadden won three individual events and a relay last weekend to help lead the Cardinal to a win in the SMU Invitational. The sophomore out of Haddonfield, New Jersey, won the 500 free with a personal-best time of 4:14.35, the 200 free with a time of 1:32.59 and the 200 fly with a time of 1:43.14. McFadden then anchored Stanford’s 400 free relay team to a victory and an NCAA A cut time of 2:47.89. All three of his individual victories were NCAA B cut times.

ACC MEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Max Fowler, Georgia Tech, So., Fairfax, Virginia
Fowler helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a fourth-place finish in the Georgia Tech Invite. The sophomore out of Fairfax, Virginia, swept the boards with scores of 398.0 in the 1-meter, 429.40 in the 3-meter and 340.40 in the platform dive. All three scores were NCAA B zone scores.

ACC WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Claire Curzan, Virginia, So., Fairfax, Virginia

Last week, Curzan set an American, NCAA, US Open, UVA, meet and pool record in the 200 back at the Tennessee Invitational with a time of 1:46.87. The Fairfax, Virginia, native also finished first place in the 100 back (49.37) and second in the 100 fly (49.50). Curzan swam the 200 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay, helping the Cavaliers lead the nation in all three events and hit NCAA A cuts.

ACC WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Margo O’Meara, Duke, Sr., St. Louis, Missouri

Last week for the Blue Devils, O’Meara earned first place in the 1-meter with a score of 326.10 and the 3-meter with a score of 349.10. The St. Louis, Missouri, native also placed third in the platform dive with a score of 250.30.
