Caroline Wanezek Becomes 3rd Wanezek To Head To Wisconsin With Her Commitment For 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Caroline Wanezek from Brookfield, Wisconsin has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Wisconsin beginning in fall 2026. Caroline becomes the 3rd Wanezek sister to swim for the Badgers as Abby Wanezek is currently a senior and Maggie Wanezek is currently a sophomore. Their father Tom Wanezek swam at Indiana.

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to pursue my academic & athletic career at the University of Wisconsin!! I’m so grateful for my family, friends, coaches, and everyone who has helped me get this far. I can’t wait to be a Badger!”

Wanezek swims for Elmbrook Swim Club and most recently swam at the WEST Mid Season Showdown. She notably swam best times in the 50 free (23.55) and 100 back (57.65). She was just off her lifetime best in the 100 free with a 50.55.

Just a week earlier, Wanezek represented Brookfield East High School at the Wisconsin Girls High School Division I State Championships. She swam to a win in the 100 fly with a lifetime best 54.77. She also was 3rd in the 200 IM with a lifetime best 2:01.99 and swam a lifetime best 50.40 100 free while leading off the team’s 400 free relay.

Wanezek’s Best SCY Times Are:

  • 100 free: 50.40
  • 200 IM: 2:01.99
  • 200 fly: 2:01.55
  • 100 fly: 54.77

The Wisconsin women finished 4th out of 14 teams at the 2025 Big Ten Championships. Phoebe Bacon, who has since graduated, led the team with 96 individual points. The team is currently in its first season under head coach Dr. Jack Brown. Notably, Caroline’s older sister Maggie has already seen great success under Brown.

Caroline is not far off what it took to score at the 2025 Big Ten Championships as it took a 49.60 in the 100 free, 1:59.51 in the 200 fly, and a 1:59.66 in the 200 IM to earn a second swim. The 200 IM was notably the event Wisconsin scored the most points in this past season as the Badgers brought in 75.5 points in the 200 IM.

Wanezek will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Lindsey Schlegel, Taryn Weatherhead, Ainsley Stephan, Lilla Wilbur, Ellie Kayser, Annika Curran, and Vivian Moulson. Curran and Wanezek raced the 200 IM at States last month, with Curran finishing just ahead of Wanezek in a 2:01.78.
