Caeleb Dressel Re-Breaks 50 Free Championship Record with 18.29

2016 MEN’S NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Florida sophomore Caeleb Dressel swam an 18.29 in prelims of the individual 50 free on Thursday at the 2016 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, which re-broke his own championship record of 18.32 done in leading-off Florida’s 200 free relay.

Both at last year’s meet, where he wound up as the NCAA Champion; and at the SEC Championships earlier this year; Dressel was able to swim faster in finals than he was in prelims, and already in Atlanta he’s been faster than he was in SEC prelims earlier this year.

I actually think he was shutting it down towards the end. Either that or Bilas has more speed over the last 15 meters.

And manaudou also has serious height to go with the muscles. He,s like 6,6 or 6,7

yeah the world record holder is 5th and 6th on the list but we know not all swimmers convert scy to scm well. Dressel has packed some serious muscle but read my lips, every swimmer looks like a spring chicken next to manaudou. That dude is something else.

While I wasn’t particularly dumbfounded with Caleb’s relay lead-off (18.3) in prelims based on past performance, I am duly impressed with the 18.2 shortly thereafter in the prelim 50. Its the consistency that impresses – and getting faster… Tonight will be fun!

Dressel has packed on some serious muscle this year. He’s starting to look (and swim!) like Flaurent Manaudou

I really wish you guys swam metres… I know that’s fast but I’ve got no point of reference.

The world record holder for the 50 Free LCM is 5th and 6th on the list where Caleb owns 1-4. There’s a good point of reference lol

Small correction: Caeleb is a sophomore, not a junior. He’s only 19!
