2017 TYR Fran Crippen Swim Meet of Champions

Day 1 of the the 2017 TYR Fran Crippen Swim Meet of Champions last night in Irvine California. It was distance night, as the only two events were the 800 meter freestyle for the women and 1500 meter freestyle for the men.

In the 800, 15 year old Liberty Williams took home the crown. Williams won the event by .22, touching out Hayley McIntosh. McIntosh, a New Zealand native, finished 5th in the same event at the 2017 Arena Pro Swim Series – Mesa. Finishing third was Caitlin Deans at 8:50.72.

In the men’s 1500, Michael Brinegar took home the gold. Brinegar beat out a duo of Stanford Cardinals, who finished second and third, by winning in a time of 15:31.63. True Sweetser finished second at 15:36.44 and Liam Egan took bronze at 15:41.00.
