He also was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council for three years and was honored multiple times for his academic achievement. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Management and Protection from Cal Poly in 2010.

Summers began coaching in 2009 at the San Luis Obispo Swim Club following completion of his collegiate swimming career. In 2010, he moved to Long Beach and started coaching at Long Beach Swim Club. Summers also spent time as an assistant coach for the Wilson Classical High School girls’ swimming team.

In 2012, Summers moved to Portland, Oregon, to pursue a masters degree in Environmental Management at Portland State which he completed in June of 2014. Brent also brings a unique skill set to the position, having taught as a science professor. Our program takes pride in the work we do in the water and the work that our student-athletes do in the classroom, and I am happy to have someone working in our program who can support our swimmers with both endeavors.”
