Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Ben Eichberg announced his commitment in July to swim and study at Miami University (Ohio) beginning for the 2022-2023 school year.
Eichberg will begin his senior year this fall at Stafford Senior High School in Fredericksburg, VA.
“Searching for the right college was extremely difficult during this past year. Thanks to my coach and teammates, my family and the coaches at Miami University for being patient and helping me through the process. I’m looking forward to continue swimming and studying in Oxford.”
Eichberg swims for Rappahannock Y Swim Team (RAYS) out of Spotsylvania, Virginia. His March included many times drops while at NCSA’s and the Virginia Senior Championships. His new best times included the 100 freestyle (47.39), 100 (55.82) and 200 (2:02.43) breaststrokes, 100 butterfly (51.68), and 200 IM (1:52.26). His NCSA finishes included 12th place in the 50 and 100 breaststrokes and 16th in the 200 breaststroke.
This summer at the Virginia Long Course Senior Championships, he achieved best times in the 100 (54.33) and 200 (2:02.29) freestyles, 100 (1:07.44) and 200 (2:28.55) breaststrokes, and 200 (2:12.81) and 400 (4:54.09) IMs.
His best short course times are:
- 100 breaststroke: 55.82
- 200 breaststroke: 2:02.43
- 200 IM: 1:52.26
- 400 IM: 4:01.07
- 100 butterfly: 51.68
Miami (OH) is a public university located in Oxford, Ohio. The school is a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC).
Based on his best times, Eichberg has the potential to make an immediate impact at the conference level. His best times would have earned him a spot in the A final of the 100 breaststroke and 400 IM, and the B final of the 200 breaststroke and 200 IM.
Eichberg will arrive on campus next fall as a member of the class of 2026 along with Kevin Donaldson, Aaron Black, Evan Kindseth, and Maguire Sheppard.
