Vincent Tafuto, better known as Vinny, is an NCAA All-American at the University of Michigan. Tafuto was born Apr. 10, 1995 to William and Julie Tafuto, and he grew up in Hummelstown, Pa. Prior to attending Michigan Tafuto was a student at Hershey High School – he was a five-time All-American that competed for Hershey Aquatic Club. Tafuto is currently in his sophomore year, he’s enrolled in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts – he also claims he is a self-employed eBay salesman with a 100% feedback score. Tafuto really blossomed as a swimmer as an upperclassman in high school – during his freshman season Tafuto finished 24th at the Pennsylvania state championship in the 500 freestyle, but by his senior year he had won the 50 freestyle. Although he’s primarily a freestyle swimmer, but he also swims the sprint backstroke and butterfly races. He’s earned two NCAA All-America honors as a member of Michigan’s 200 freestyle relay.
In his freshman year Tafuto earned his first NCAA All-America honor as a leg on the 200 freestyle relay. At the Big Ten Championships Tafuto came in seventh in the 100 butterfly, 11th in the 50 freestyle and 17th in the 100 freestyle.
Tafuto is currently in his sophomore season as a Michigan Wolverine. He earned multiple honors – NCAA All-America, Big Ten champion, All-Big Ten, Academic All-Big Ten, U-M Athletic Academic Achievement. At the Big Ten meet he came in fourth in the 50 freestyle, 14th in the 100 butterfly and 16th in the 100 freestyle. He also competed in three events at the AT&T Winter Nationals.
As a student at Hershey, Tafuto helped his team win two back-to-back PIAA State Championships. He also won two individual state championships his senior year – in the 50 freestyle, and as the anchor leg on the 200 freestyle relay.
