Ben Madson Switches Commitment to Cal Baptist for 2025-26

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Ben Madson, who originally committed to Missouri before his offer was revoked, is now headed to California Baptist University to swim and study beginning this fall.

“I’m excited to announce that I’ll be switching my commitment to California Baptist University! I’m incredibly grateful for all the love and support from my friends, family, and everyone who’s been part of my journey over the past 14 years of swimming. A huge thank you to Coach Jim at CBU for giving me this opportunity, and to all the coaches I’ve had over the years—each of you has played a role in getting me here. A special shoutout to the entire Velocity community and my family!! Can’t wait to be a Lancer! LANCE UP⚔️⚔️”

Madson recently graduated from Wenatchee High School in Wenatchee, Washington. He had a huge meet at the Washington State 4A Championships in February, winning the 100 back with a Washington High School all-time state record of 47.82, placing 2nd in the 50 free with a PB of 20.35, and leading off Wenatchee’s 200 medley (21.98 PB in prelims) and 400 free (45.37 PB in finals) relays.

Swimming with his club team, Velocity Swimming, he improved on nearly all of those times at Boise Sectionals in March. There, he won the 100 back (48.42) and placed 5th in the 50 free (20.61 PB), 6th in the 100 free (45.45 PB), 2nd in the 200 back (1:46.89 PB), 8th in the 100 fly (49.78 PB in prelims), and 5th in the 200 IM (1:52.06 PB).

The Lancers finished 2nd to UNLV at the 2025 Western Athletic Conference Championships. Madson’s best times would have scored in the ‘A’ final of the 100 back (along with conference champion Remi Fabiani, Andrew Teh, and Justin Welch), the ‘B’ final of the 200 back, and the ‘C’ final of the 50 free.

Best SCY times:

  • 100 back – 47.76
  • 200 back – 1:47.45
  • 50 free – 20.61
  • 100 free – 45.45

Madson will join Daniel Benson, Eli Rollen, Holden Short, Jacob Smith, Sami Danailov, and Trent Bemis at CBU in Riverside next fall.

I guess you have to switch commitments when the first commitment is only one sided.
