Anthem Dolphin Krista Kolkebeck verbals to Arizona State Sun Devils

Anthem, Arizona freestyler Krista Kolkebeck will stay in-state to continue her career on the college level, verbally committing to the Arizona State Sun Devils of the Pac-12 Conference.

Kolkebeck swims for the Anthem Dolphins Swim Club as well as Boulder Creek, High School in Arizona. She’s a solid freestyler from the 50 through the 500 – though she specializes more in sprints – and should provide some excellent developmental depth to ASU.

Kolkebeck’s Top Times

  • 50 free: 24.26
  • 100 free: 51.98
  • 200 free: 1:54.87
  • 500 free: 5:10.55

Kolkebeck has been a fast riser of late. Between Arizona High School State in 2013 and the 2014 edition of the state meet, Kolkebeck dropped her 50 free nearly a second, from 25.16 to 24.26. Her 100 dropped even more dramatically, going from 53.50 to 51.98.

Scott Newell, her head coach with the Anthem Dolphins, credited her consistent training habits and said Kolkebeck shows great potential for further improvement in college.

“She brings a great work ethic and is a swimmer that never has a ‘bad’ day,” Newell told SwimSwam this week. “The sky is the limit for her.”
