Alabama Picks Up Mount Lebanon Sprinter Kathryn Nicholson

Kathryn Nicholson of Mount Lebanon Aquatic Club (MLAC) in Pennsylvania has given a verbal commitment to the University of Alabama.

  • 50y free – 23.67
  • 100y free – 52.15
  • 200y free – 1:54.80
  • 50m free – 27.99
  • 100m free – 59.88

Nicholson will add depth to the Alabama sprint freestyle group. With her current best in the 50 free, she isn’t too far off of the 23.18 that it took to C final at last year’s SEC Championships.

Alabama only had two scorers in the 50 free last season, and one, Justine Panian, just graduated. They also just graduated half of their 2016 200 free relay (one of which was Panian, the other being Emma Saunders), making Nicholson a valuable addition to address a weaker area of the team.

Nicholson joins Bean Faunce and Maria Reed in Alabama’s class of 2021.
