Through the 2nd day of the 2026 MVC Championship, there was quite a bit of movement in the team standings. Indiana State lead the women’s meet by just 5 points over Southern Illinous, while Missouri State is just 2.5 points behind SIU. On the men’s side, Missouri State is now leading Miami (OH) by 11.5 points.
There was one conference record broken on the night. Ball State freshman George Patterson won the men’s 200 free in 1:34.79, shredding the MVC record of 1:35.96. Of note, the previous record holder, Willem Huggins (SIU), came in 2nd last night with a 1:34.91, which was well under his record.
The meet kicked off with the women’s 100 fly, where Missouri State sophomore Lillie Freulon won in 53.25. Freulon won the race by nearly a second over Illinois State senior Malia Snow (54.14).
In the men’s 100 fly, SIU junior Carter Ruthven clocked a 46.48 to win the race. Ruthven holds a career best of 46.37.
The Salukis picked up another win in the women’s 400 IM, where senior Brooklyn Anderson finished in 4:15.65. Anderson got out to a great start, splitting 57.17 on fly and 1:04.48 on back for a 2:01.65 on the opening 200.
Miami (OH) sophomore Owen Hoban took the men’s 400 IM in 3:48.65. Hoban was excellent on fly (50.31) and breast 1:06.20 specifically in his race.
The women’s 200 free saw Makenzie Kurre, a Missouri State junior, win with a time of 1:47.14.
Indiana State won the women’s 200 medley relay, seeing Sahara Visscher (26.35), Ali Pearson (27.36), Raine Boles (23.68), and Kaleigh Kelley (22.29) team up for a 1:39.68.
Missouri State took the men’s 200 medley relay, where Gonzolo Ruiz Vazquez (22.17), Kiefer Roemer (23.61), Jack Ailshire (20.72), and Lucas Chadwell (19.11) combined for a 1:25.61.
The diving event of the day was women’s 1-meter, where Indiana State junior Jecza Lopez won with a score of 285.40.
