The Michigan Wolverines have broken the Big Ten Championship and Conference records in the women’s 200 yard free relay to close day 2 of the Big Ten Championships.
The team of Lexi Greenhawt, Brady Kendall, Stephanie Balduccini, and Leila Fack combined for a 1:25.44. Besides winning the race by almost two seconds over Indiana, the Wolverines cleared both their own Meet Record from last year (1:26.13) and the overall Big Ten Record of 1:25.80 done by Ohio State at the 2023 Big Ten Championships.

Kendall, , the lone senior on the Wolverine relay, was the big difference maker here. Last year, she led off in 21.95; this year, she split 20.72 on the 2nd leg, giving the Wolverines the 20-point leg that puts them among the country’s elite relays.
Michigan finished 4th at last year’s NCAA Championship meet, though this time would have bumped them to 3rd.
The field will be stacked this year though – with the SEC still to swim this race on Friday, the ACC Championships this week already saw three relays faster than this: the presumed favorites Virginia (1:23.75), Stanford (1:25.14), and Louisville (1:25.34).
The Michigan women still have some ground they can make up on exchanges, though. Their aggregate over three legs was .71 seconds; when Ohio State set the old record, their aggregate exchange time was .45 seconds.
This was one of three School Records for the Michigan women on Thursday. Letitia Sim tied Miranda Tucker’s 100 breaststroke record in 57.93; while transfer Bella Sims broke the Big Ten Meet Record and shattered Kathryn Ackerman’s School Record of 4:05.58.

Michigan women out front! Impressive! Interesting with the conservative exchange times.
