On day 2 of the Mexican National Championships in Boca del Rio, Veracruz, Texas A&M swimmer Lili Ibanez won the women’s 200 meter freestyle with a final time of 2:02.29. Later, she went on to win the 50 meter butterfly, proving her sprint speed with a time of 27.94. She was very happy to have won the event and qualify for the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games (CACG). The event is a multi-sport spectacular, with 36 different disciplines and all and 31 represented countries, running from November 14th-30th.
Her time of 27.94 in the 50 meter butterfly will stand as the new national record. The only other record of the day came from Ana Sofía Revilak. She finished third overall to break the 17-18 Mexican Age Group record in the 50 meter butterfly with a final time of 28.48.
Miguel Alejandro Lara earned his spot on the CACG team by winning the men’s 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:03.12. He touched out Mauro Castillo, the winner of the 17-18 division, with his time of 1:03.55.
