Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
The Olympic Club’s Amanda Vu has committed to Vanderbilt University for the fall of 2026.
I am thrilled to announce my commitment to furthering my academic and athletic career at Vanderbilt University!
I could not have done this without the love and support of my family and friends. To all my coaches for the last 10 years, you have seen my potential and pushed me to achieve anything I believed in. Swimming is such an important part of my life, I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to be a part of this team! This Vu is heading to VU
ANCHORDOWN 🖤💛⚓
Vu wrapped up her 2025 campaign with a pair of championship meets, the first being the Speedo Winter Junior Championship – West (SCY). She competed in four events, with her best finish coming in the 200 backstroke, where she touched 28th in 1:59.53. Vu also raced the 100 back (32nd, 55.01), 200 butterfly (60th, 2:13.86), and the 200 IM (109th, 2:07.31).
A week later, Vu raced at the Speedo Sectionals in Walnut, where she managed to set a lifetime best in the 50 freestyle, stopping the clock in 24.48 in the prelims, placing 52nd overall in the event. She also competed in three finals races, with her best finish coming in the 100 back, where she clocked 55.33 for 6th place overall. Her other finals swims came in the 50 back (12, 26.63) and the 100 fly (18th, 56.87).
In April, Vu clocked her best short course times in the 200 fly (2:02.67) and 200 free (1:53.85). She also holds notable backstroke best times of 54.90 in the 100 back, and 1:58.98, both set in early to mid 2024.
As a junior at Lowell High School in her hometown of San Francisco, California, Vu finished 9th in the 100 back at the CIF State Championships in 55.84. She also raced the 100 fly at those championships, placing 38th in 57.41.
Vu’s skill set stretches from fly and back to freestyle and IM, providing a useful range of events for the Vanderbilt program to use, which finished 13th at the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships last season.
Her 100 and 200 backstroke times both would currently sit 2nd on this season’s Vanderbilt team. The only swimmer who would have posted a faster time in both events is sophomore Aubrey Hull, who still will have two years with the team alongside Vu, adding needed depth to the backstroke room.

- 100 Back: 54.90
- 200 Back: 1:58.98
