The 2026 Australian Open Water Championships are slated to take place from Thursday, January 22nd through Sunday, January 25th at the Koombana Bay venue in Western Australia.
Athletes are competing not only for medals and bragging rights but also for cash depending on the finishing place in the male and female open 10k race.
Below are the prize amounts for this year’s competition:
In terms of schedule, Thursday will see the women’s and girls’ 10k, as well as the men’s and boys’ 10k. The girls’ and boys’ aged 16-17 5k race will also take place on that day.
Friday will see the girls’ and boys’ aged 14-15 5k as well as the mixed 4×1500 relay, with Sunday bringing the women’s and men’s knockout sprints. Sunday’s lineup also includes the 5k in addition to multiple age category events.

Women’s race results feel pretty clear cut with no Chelsea Douyere (nee Gubecka) to spoil Moesha’s party but Tayla Martin had a great swim at NSW Openwater in December so maybe she has been cooking up something big for this year 🤷. The Men’s race however, feels like there could be a big number of possibilities and I would certainly add to those listed in the article the likes of Bailey Armstrong (who has been training with Moesha in Germany), Dylan Murphy (last year’s 4th place getter), Adam Sudlow and Robert Bonsall (what’s with his Bahrain Club entry?) all into the conversation as well.
PS Retta, When did Thomas Raymond move to NCT? Last I heard he was still… Read more »
Big question is who takes out the 4×1.5km club relay? Will it be Japan the defending champions that get up for the win again, or will it be the local team of North Coast swimmers including Kyle Lee and co. or is it the East Coast Miami crew including Moesha and Bailey Armstrong that spoil the West Coast party? My bets are on the Miami crew for the win this year.
