WOMEN’S RECAP
The Trojans rolled to a 189-109 victory over the Wildcats, with senior Justina Kozan leading the squad with three individual victories, while junior Minna Abraham and senior Claire Tuggle won two apiece.
USC got off on the right foot with an impressive victory in the 400 medley relay, as Abraham (51.58), Bella Brito (1:00.07), Kozan (51.72) and Nicole Maier (47.50) combined for a time of 3:30.87, under the NCAA Championship cut and good for 7th in the country this season.
Kozan followed up by claiming wins in the 100 fly (52.98), 200 fly (1:55.80) and 400 IM (4:08.73), with the 100 fly swim marking a new season-best. She’s been as fast as 1:54.63 in the 200 fly and 4:05.15 in the 400 IM this season, ranking her 9th and 6th in the NCAA, respectively.
Abraham put up a season-best time of 47.92 in the 100 free to earn the victory, though she would go quicker the following day against ASU (47.65). The Hungarian also won the 100 back in 51.49, just shy of the 51.32 personal best she set at the USC Invite in early October.
Tuggle also impressed by firing off a pair of season-bests in the 200 free (1:44.99) and 500 free (4:44.74), the former marking an NCAA qualifying time and ranking her 29th in the NCAA this season. In the 500, she ended up going faster the following day against ASU (4:43.79), good for 25th in the country.
The Trojans had additional wins come from freshman Dora Molnar in the 200 back (1:55.80), senior Ashley McMillan in the 200 breast (2:10.90), first-year Alisee Pisane in the 1000 free (10:01.11) and sophomore diver Kate Miller in the 1-meter springboard (278.18).
The swim for Pisane marked a new lifetime best, while both Molnar and McMillan were a tick slower than they were earlier this season. McMillan was also the runner-up in the 100 breast, setting a new best time of 1:00.48, with Arizona’s Eleni Gewalt claiming the win in 1:00.15.
Senior Julia Wozniak had the other individual swimming win for the Wildcats in the 50 free, clocking 22.15 before going five one-hundredths faster the following day against UCLA.
Senior Zara Ayazi also picked up a win on 3-meter (319.50), while Arizona closed out the meet by winning the 200 free relay with Riley Botton (22.45), Wozniak (21.80), Gewalt (22.42) and Patricija Kondraskaite (21.94), combining for a time of 1:28.61.
MEN’S RECAP
The Arizona men claimed eight of 12 swimming events, including both relays, to secure a 182-118 over USC, a big turnaround after they lost to the Trojans by a lopsided margin of 193-107 last season.
The Wildcats were led by sophomore Tomas Lukminas and senior Haakon Naughton, who won two individual events apiece and contributed to both of Arizona’s relays.
The meet kicked off with the 400 medley relay, where Arizona’s Alex Desangles (46.52), Tavner Wisdom (52.50), Naughton (44.70) and Lukminas (41.99) combined for a time of 3:05.71 to top USC (3:06.61) and climb to 6th in the NCAA this season.
Lukminas, a Lithuanian native, won the 100 free (42.49) and 200 free (1:33.71) individually, both marks falling just shy of his season-bests (42.30/1:33.61).
Naughton set a pair of season-best and NCAA-qualifying times en route to wins in the 100 fly (44.96) and 200 fly (1:42.31), ranking him 5th and 13th in the NCAA this season, respectively.
At the end of the meet in the 200 free, Lukminas led off in a 50 free season-best of 19.38, and he was followed by Jakey Hutchinson (19.23), Taylor Luck (18.98) and Ralph Daleiden (19.35) as they took the victory in 1:16.94, tying them for 6th in the country this season alongside NC State.
Punctuating the meet victory, the Wildcats went 1-2 in the relay, with Naughton splitting 19.29 on the third leg and Duncan Henderson anchoring in 19.11 as they clocked 1:18.06 in 2nd.
Also earning individual wins were Desangles, Wisdom, Hutchinson and Henderson, who were all part of one of the victorious relays.
Hutchinson set a best time in winning the 50 free (19.62), Henderson set a PB to lead the 100 back (45.92), Desangles claimed the 200 back (1:42.76) and Wisdom topped the 100 breast in a season-best (53.42).

The following day against ASU, Chmielewski was significantly faster in the 1000 free (8:59.92), a season-best, but slower in the other two events. His fastest time this season in the 200 fly (1:41.16) ranks 3rd in the NCAA, while he’s been as fast as 4:19.16 in the 500 free, ranking 21st in the country.
Moritz Wesemann swept the diving events with scores of 393.15 on 1-meter and 371.25 on 3-meter, while Junhao Chan led the 200 breast (1:56.90) and Charlie Bufton set a season-best of 3:52.19 in claiming the 400 IM.
