For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Trading in the tides of Lake Michigan for the Crimson Tide, Sheboygan Wisconsin native (I’ve been told it’s the Surfing Capital of the Mid-West), Aadin Terrazas has decided to bring his freestyle talents to the University of Alabama, expecting to join in the fall of 2027. Terrazas wrote to SwimSwam informing us of his commitment and simply adding,

Roll Tide!!!! 🌊 🐘

Terrazas has twice represented his high school Sheboygan North, at the Wisconsin high school Division 1 State Championships. As a freshman, back in 2024, he finished 16th in the 200 free going 1:44.52 and earned a top eight finish in the 500 free, stopping the clock in a then personal best of 4:42.72. A year later, as a sophomore, he climbed the podium in both events, finishing 3rd in the 200 free, going 1:38.77, a nearly seven second improvement from the previous year. In the 400 he went 4:37.98, claiming 2nd behind Carter Jewell, a Wisconsin first year.

Neither of those times were PBs as his best 500 time comes from his results at the 2024 Winter Junior Championships. Representing Ozaukee Aquatics, Terrazas went 4:25.05 in prelims qualifying 22nd into the finals, where he posted his 2nd fastest performance of 4:27.80 to finish 24th overall. He was a little off that time at the NCSA Spring Championships earlier this year, going 4:36.98 but set PBs in the 50, 200 and 1000 free while in Florida.

He went 21.57 in the 50 slicing .05 off his best but made more impressive drops in the 200 and 1000, cutting .34 off in the 200 and over 20 seconds in the 1000. He finished 25th in the prelims going 1:39.73 but made the most of being scratched up into the C-final, where he posted a mark of 1:37.93 to finish 17th overall. In the 1000, Terrazas posted a massive new best finishing 18th overall in 9:19.11, after having a previous best of 9:33.17.

The Wisconsin native hasn’t kept his time drops this year to short course alone, as he set PBs in the 100-1500 free at three separate meets this summer. At the Sectionals meet in neighboring Minnesota, Terrazas set new PBs in the 100 free (52.33), the 400 free (4:01.39), the 800 (8:30.24) and 1500 (16:12.53). Two weeks later at the Futures meet in Madison, he set a new PB in the 200, going 1:53.91 as well as joining the sub-4:00 club in the 400, placing 9th in the final at 3:59.40.

He capped off his summer at the Wisconsin LSC 13 and Over Championships, where he dropped .70 off his 200-time winning the event in 1:53.21. He also won the 400-800-1500 free, with the 800 also being a PB, as he cut over eight seconds from his time earlier in the month, going 8:22.11.

Best SCY Times:

  • 200 Free – 1:37.93
  • 500 Free – 4:25.05
  • 1000 Free – 9:19.11
  • 1650 Free – 16:02.40

Terrazas will be looking to join the Margo Geer led Alabama program in two years, that recently scored 667 points to finish 6th at the 2025 SECs, more than 100 points back of Texas A&M but over 80 points clear of LSU. Bama had a strong showing at NCAAs finishing 12th overall lead by Charlie Hawke‘s pair of A-final finishes as the now graduated Australian finished 4th in the 200 free, 8th in the 500 free and helped the 800 free relay to a 4th place finish.

None of Terrazas’ times currently are in range of scoring at SECs but he still has both his junior and senior years of high school to improve. It took a 1:34.99 to earn a second swim at the 2025 SECs in the 200 free, while 4:18.24 was the 24th fastest time in prelims. The mile saw a time of 15:04.12 earn the last points on offer in the timed final.  Alabama had great success at placing swimmers into the finals of the 200 Free as they were the only program to advance three into the A-final, led by the now graduated Hawke’s bronze medal winning performance of 1:30.62.

So far committed to join the Crimson Tide in 2027 are BOTR Mark Cecco, a strong 200 freestyler and native of New Mexico and Nash King, a versatile IMer from Indiana.
