Denver Women Power To 175-125 Win On The Road At Idaho

MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Denver women’s swimming and diving team turned in a complete performance in a win at Idaho on Saturday afternoon at the UI Swim Center.

EVENT BY EVENT RECAP:
The meet opened with the 3-meter dive. Savanna Berry finished second on the higher board with a 275.18, while Kaitlin Calvery turned in a 274.65.

In swimming, Denver turned in a win in the 200 medley relay when the quartet of Ali BeayTenaya WinterJulia Saxman and Izzy Burton recorded a 1:42.56 to take the event title.

Moving to the 1000 free, Paige Reilly finished second in the distance race, reaching the final wall in 10:14.83. Nika Spehar finished third in 10:18.26.

Summit League Women’s Swimming Peak Performer of the Week Samantha Synsvoll earned her first event win of the weekend in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.17 to improve on her personal-best time. Lilly Zippel finished right behind her teammate in 1:52.07.

Beay gave Denver wins in back-to-back event, clocking in at 55.44 to take the event win. Darian Koler finished third in 56.63 and Maria Delmonte got to the wall fourth in 57.38.

Winter made it three-straight wins for the Pioneers with a 1:03.92 in the women’s 100 breast. Peyton Mullowney took second in 1:04.08.

In the second-consecutive day, Julia Saxman earned a win in the breaststroke, this time in the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.44. Sabrina Rachjaibun followed up her sixth-best time in program history, which was passed Saturday by Saxman, with a time of 2:00.47.

On the other side of the break, Winter earned her third win of the day with a 51.56.

Mina Ada Solaker led the Pioneer swimmers in the 200 back on Saturday, taking second with a 2:02.23.

In the women’s 200 breast, Mullowney got the Pioneers in the win column again, leading the field with a 2:16.28.

After finishing 0.03 seconds behind her teammate in the 200 fly, Rachjaibun did get her event win on Saturday in the 500 free, reaching the final wall in 4:56.74 to take the race by nearly four seconds ahead of Synsvoll.

Saxman completed a butterfly sweep, taking the 100 in 54.38, a personal best, before Synsvoll got her second win of the evening with a 2:03.10 in the 200 IM.

UP NEXT:
Denver will have the month of November off before the Pioneers head out for their first championship style meet of the year, the 2025 Minnesota Invite. The three-day meet begins on Thursday, December 4 and runs through December 6.

MOSCOW, Idaho – For the first time this season, Idaho Swim and Dive competed in the comforts of the University Swim Center, hosting back-to-back afternoon contests vs. Northern Arizona on Halloween and the University of Denver the following Saturday.

NAU came into Moscow riding high off of over a decade’s worth of success, having won the last 12 consecutive WAC titles before joining the MPSF alongside the Vandals in the offseason.

The Brave and Bold came into the matchup ready to make a statement and did just that, riding multiple historic performances to a 160.5-139.5 win over the 12-time defending league champs.

Big moments led Vandal Swim and Dive to the win, including a career outing from Marie Mason, who set a new school record of 10:09.11 in the 1000 Y Freestyle. The sophomore recorded the first record time of her career and set the tone for the rest of the night.

Isabelle Borke added another win to her season total, finishing with a 1:51.38 in the 200 Y Freestyle, trailed only just by Holly Lenarz with a second-overall time of 1:52.68. Katy Foley and Ginger Kiefer picked up the top two finishes in the 100 Y Backstroke with times of 55.68 and 55.76, respectively, and Kiefer took home the gold in the 200 Y Back, clocked at 2:01.20. Holly Lenarz won the 500 Y Free with a mark of 5:00.31, and Marie Mason picked up her second individual win of the day in the 400 IM (4:25.45).

On the diving boards, Maya Salvitti continued a strong season with a second-place finish in the 3M (327.15) and third in the 1M (289.13), having now qualified for Zone E in both events.

On Saturday, the Vandals returned to action against the Denver Pioneers. Salvitti picked up where she left off, picking up the gold in both diving events, earning scores of 293.48 in the 3M and 288.15 in the 1M. Amelia Ward earned the silver in the 1M, scored at 275.93.

Marie Mason picked up her second win in a row in the 1000 Y Free, nearly matching yesterday’s school record at 10:11.42.Madelynn Butler earned the top time in the 50 Y Free, clocked at 23.48, and was followed by Borke at 23.62. Ginger Kiefer picked up her second win in as many days in the 200 Y Back (2:02.18) and Courtney Crawford finished second in the 200 Y Breaststroke (2:20.67). Despite the highlights, the Pioneers held their own and picked up the narrow win in Moscow, 175-125.

The Vandals will stay home for the third meet in a row, hosting Colorado State on Saturday, Nov. 8.
