The replay is available here on ESPN’s SECN+, although a bulk of subscribers may be unable to access the replay due to negotiations falling through today between Youtube TV and ESPN/Disney.

Ledecky did not compete this month at the Short Course Meters World Cup and has not raced officially since the 2025 World Championships when she won gold in the 800 free and 1500 free as well as bronze in the 400 free. Back in May, she broke her own World Record with a 8:04.12 in the 800 free at the Pro Series stop in Fort Lauderdale.

I’m not saying she WOULD do this, just saying: 4:26.43 *1.0936 y/m /5 = 58.27 /100m
=3:53.09 / 400 m
=7:46.19 / 800 m

The word is that Katie Ladecky has an unbelievable ability to prevent the build up of lactic acid which gives her a huge advantage in distance events. You gotta know that physiologists are studying how to artificially alter swimmers metabolism and lactic acid production to increase stamina and swim faster.

Phelps had that.

I don’t think her species produces lactic acid? I’m not 100% up to date on Andromedan biology though

First female under 4:30 in 500, first and only female under 9:00 in 1000, first and only female under 15:20 and 15:10 in the 1650. I reckon she’ll be under 15:00 before retirement, she’s nearly there.

Instead of lamenting her lack of SCM racing, let’s appreciate the greatness she’s still displaying every year 13 years since that breakout London gold. Nesty and Ledecky seem to know what they’re doing with training/racing balance given all the success last season.

What’s still insane about her 1000 time is that it is still in the top 100 all time for the 17-18 age group, for the guys would’ve been top 20 at the time it was set 10 years ago too!

She has competed when it really matters for about 15 years.

And let’s face it, the Cup is sort of a ding-a-ling event anyway.

You know better what she should or not do. She, the GOAT, the 4 time 800 free gold medalist, the one who is in this business of professional swimming for half her life, does not know.

Love Katie but this is an outdated mindset…SC is much more relevant than it was when Phelps would just skip these meets

Only because swimming is kinda weird in which how we favor versatility over slower ways up swimming up and down the pool than swimming up and down the pool the fastest.
